I would have to go through a ...HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

I would have to go through a lot of fifty-cent yard sale garlic presses before I spend $28 on one.

Did you see the one on Amazon that has wheels? It's only $11 and looks like a lot more fun.

ACTUALLY, you would be surprised at how frequently very nice kitchen things come up, particularly at estate sales. Rich people have nice gadgets, and since the estate sale company is really making their money on the antiques, you can usually pick up nice tools for about a buck.Sandrahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16973823764144157285noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-24850778.post-30140827080058957012010-11-23T20:56:22.419-05:002010-11-23T20:56:22.419-05:00I am glad that you are past that whole jarred garl...I am glad that you are past that whole jarred garlic thing. I have never used it -- I didn't even know about it until you mentioned it. You must now procure a garlic press for yourself. Let me save you some time. Garlic presses are not all the same. I was a big fan of the OXO Good Grips garlic press (go look on Amazon; I didn't have the stainless steel one). It did not require a lot of strength (important!!) and it was a breeze to clean. Unfortunately, it kept breaking near the hinge. (Reading the reviews on Amazon it sounds like I am not alone.) I think I went thru 3 of them (each lasting maybe a year) before I decided I'd had enough. So I ended up taking the plunge and getting a Kuhn Rikon. It is very easy to use and clean, but it holds slightly less garlic in the chamber than my OXO. It can do unpeeled, but I usually don't do that. I've had the KR for several years now. No problems and I use it probably 3-4 times/week. I will be shocked if it ever breaks.

I don't remember the stainless OXO being available when I was researching. It seems to have very good reviews so it might be a good choice.

You'll probably laugh at the idea of just buying one new instead of waiting for one in a yard sale, but I'd be surprised if a good press came up. There are a LOT of junky ones out there that are just torture to use. It's worth spending a little money on a good press.Carlahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17340931604413829856noreply@blogger.com
